45 km south of Toulouse, in the peace and quiet of the countryside, not far from the A64 motorway, at the crossroads of the Haute-Garonne and Ariège departments, on the route to Santiago de Compostela and the GR "Via Garona", Montesquieu-Volvestre (13th-century bastide, fortified church, arcades and Place de la Halle) is situated in the Arize valley on the road to St-Girons and Foix (Ariège), between the Village Gaulois (St Julien cultural park) and the prehistoric cave of Mas d'Azil, between a medieval village (Rieux-Volvestre, ranked 100 most beautiful villages in France, Michelin guide 2019) and the Pyrenean Piedmont, at the crossroads of numerous cultural and tourist destinations: Cathar castles, Toulouse, Canal du Midi, Saint-Lizier, Niaux caves and Prehistory Park, Aurignac Prehistoric Museum, St-Bertrand de Comminges, Lourdes, "Via Garona", hiking in the Pyrenees, etc... Ferme Montplaisir will be the starting point for your many discoveries.
