Cycling, walking, skiing, visiting northern Spain or simply relaxing with a breathtaking 180-degree view of the Pyrenees mountains, Pyrenees View or Vue Pyrenes is the place for you. We opened in June 2023 and offer a bright and airy self-contained 1st floor flat in our converted barn which sleeps up to three people. It has its own entrance and is over 50 m2 with ceilings over 3 m high. A mix of old and new, the gîte has been converted to a high standard. NOTE - Due to the stairs, the gîte is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. The main room has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine, kettle etc. On arrival you will find breakfast essentials including fresh bread, tea, coffee, milk, fruit juices, butter, jam, cereals and yoghurt. There are tea towels, washing-up liquid, hand soap and cleaning materials. The living/dining room has a 2-seater sofa and armchair, an antique table and chairs, a flat-screen connected TV and a desk with a lovely view of the mountains so you can work from the gite using the free fibre WI-FI and USB socket. The bedroom area has a lovely period double bed, 140x190cm, with pure cotton bedding. On request, we can provide an extra folding bed 90x190cm, an extra folding bed 80x190cm and/or a cot, a supplement may apply. There is a wardrobe and bedside tables. There is also an iron and ironing board. The en-suite bathroom has a large corner shower, washbasin and toilet. Towels and a bath mat are provided as well as hand soap, shampoo and shower gel. The gite has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, a fire blanket and a fire extinguisher for your safety. We live on site, so if you need anything, just ask. The 12 x 6m swimming pool for you to cool off in on those hot summer days and the woodland to the rear of the property offers great areas to cool off in the shade of the beautiful trees and you may even catch a glimpse of some of our beautiful wildlife including deer, foxes, pine martins, hoopoes, woodpeckers, owls and birds of prey. Cyclists can ride some of the best routes of the Tour de France or enter Spain and return from the front door without even having to drive! For less experienced cyclists, there are fantastic cycle paths and the roads are very quiet. Saint Gaudens is a regular on the routes of the Tour de France and the Tour D'Occitanie. The secure indoor storage room can accommodate bikes, skis, etc. and we can help you with route suggestions and perhaps a little bike maintenance! Hikers can climb beautiful mountains with many different routes depending on what you like. If you want to ski, we have 2 superb ski resorts, Superbagnères and Le Mourtis, a 45 minute drive away. Unlike many other gites in the area, parking is free and on site. For those looking for a more relaxing holiday, our large wooded garden is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery and nature. You have your own outdoor dining area and barbecue. Although we are in a very quiet area with stunning views, we are very close to our local town, Saint Gaudens, a 4 minute drive or 35 minute walk away, where you will find supermarkets, shops and a large weekly market as well as the usual amenities. hospital, doctors, dentists etc. The area is well known for its local festivals and music events, many of which are free. There are regular daily flights from all over the world to the nearby airports of Toulouse and Tarbes, both about an hour's drive away and with the A64 just minutes from the gite, you can easily get to many local places of interest such as Lourdes, Carcassonne etc and don't forget lunch in Spain! There is a train station in Saint Gaudens, so getting there without a car is also easy. A pick-up service from the airport can be arranged for a fee. Sorry, no pets. The gîte is non-smoking but there are outside facilities for smokers.
