Spirulina is a blue-green micro-algae. Present on Earth for more than 3 billion years, Arthrospira Platensis (its scientific name), thanks to its production of oxygen, contributed to the appearance of the atmosphere and therefore of life on Earth.
It was already consumed by the Mayas and Aztecs, and today it is still found naturally in salt lakes in Peru, Chad and Burma. The Kanembou tribes in Chad, who traditionally consume it, are spared malnutrition and enjoy remarkable longevity in the local context. The United Nations has hailed Spirulina as the "best food for the future"!
