Wednesday is kids’ day in France, but in Boulogne-sur-Gesse, it’s also market day! We arrive early, full of ideas, and enjoy shopping at our favourite farmers’ stands. Cheese, Pyrenees honey, juicy tomatoes and crispy bread: we’re finally ready to spend a day at the lake in Boulogne-sur-Gesse! Once we’ve devoured our lunch, the kids can’t sit still, and we’ll admit that we are as eager as they are to try our hand at putt-putt golf! For their swings, nearly as perfect as Tiger Wood’s, we reward our budding golfers with a pedal boat trip across the lake… Some are lazier about pedalling than others, preferring to admire the landscape, and it’s clear why: the eight-arch viaduct that spans the lake is quite surprising.
Drifting along with feet in the water
Towels, sunscreen, a wicker basket filled to the brim and hats for every member of the family… We always come prepared to make the most of the lake in Boulogne-sur-Gesse! Our favourite part of the day? Setting up our blanket in the shade of the trees and settling down with a good book while the kids race to the pool (that’s right, you don’t swim in the lake itself!). And the question is always the same: who will be first in the water?

Usually we don’t bring our binoculars, but today we’ve decided to set out to find the most extraordinary birds at the lake in Boulogne-sur-Gesse. So we set out on the path that leads around the lake, in the hopes of sighting something on the way! The kids try to be as quiet as possible, and their work pays off: we soon come across a few swans. A magical moment! We have just enough time to admire them before they swim away, but we are all thrilled by the sight! Next time, we’ll definitely be bringing a camera!
