This unspoilt location, which is easily accessible from the A64 motorway, puts the town at the gateway to the Pyrenean Valleys and the many mountain resorts of the Haute-Garonne and Hautes-Pyrénées. Montréjeau is an ancient bastide town, founded in 1272 with its arcades on the town's central square. Saint-Jean church, dating from the 12th and 15th centuries, and its bell tower from the 17th and 18th centuries. A 30-panel discovery trail offers free access to the town's heritage (bastide, Hôtel de Lassus, banks of the Garonne, Pyrenees panorama). The Commune will be welcoming you to a busy summer season with numerous events at the leisure centre and in the town: - An open-air market every Monday morning with local specialities (cheeses, meats, miasson, etc.). - The FOLKOLOR Festival (folk dances) from 14 to 18 August, attended by over 25,000 people. - An old-fashioned market with a parade and an exhibition of old trades on the last Monday in July. - A fireworks display on the lake on 14 July. - Environmental awareness days: fishing, fauna/flora, waste sorting, etc.
